saps, CYNICS, skeptics

"Trust Me"

Probably, the two most useless words to fall upon a cynicial person's ears.

cyn·i·cal adjective \ˈsi-ni-kəl\
2: having or showing the attitude or temper of a cynic: as
a: contemptuously distrustful of human nature and motives <those cynical men who say that democracy cannot be honest and efficient — F. D. Roosevelt>
b: based on or reflecting a belief that human conduct is motivated primarily by self-interest <a cynical ploy to win votes>

Backwards Society

I have a mad love affair with WORDS. Therefore, when I see any large block of words grouped together I immediately have an uncontrollable urge to read them. Something in its appearance that makes me feel like I can't live without reading them, at the very least some of them, all of them, I want to read them! Now, that it's evident that I have a problem ... this problem makes me super vulnerable to not only reading books, but more often quotes that I come across on the internet.

With that being said, I usually am exposed to a large amount of crap on the internet (we all are). With this exposure, I've come to see some patterns and trends that pop up for days/months and sadly sometimes even years and people just bite on and run with it. Granted if I were to list past/present of these lame, washed out and TO mention pathetic quotes, we'd be here for a long time and we'd both leave angry. In hopes of not ruining our day too much, I'll only bring one to mind, "YOU ARE PERFECT."

Now I know what you're thinking ... how could I be against feeding society (especially a younger target group) self-esteem? Well, I suppose because I'm a terrible person, but I will go on for another estimated* four paragraphs explaining why I don't like the notion of "YOU ARE PERFECT."

The way my lenses see it is ... why even have the notion of "perfect" in there? We spend so much time (have my bachelors in both business marketing and economics --  I'm fully aware of the revenue aspect of what I am about to just say, so ignore rich/fat/bald men who capitalize off of this for the time being) brain washing the youth into thinking they need to be perfect in order to then spend a vast amount of time educating them that they're already perfect, but only after we've shown them what we as a society consider perfect to be and let's be real they are nothing like the images we've bombarded them with.

In my defense, I suppose all this blabbing MAINLY boils down to the fact that we shouldn't concern ourselves with the term "perfect." It's such inhumane bullshit to expect people to be not only great at things, but perfect. Seriously? Point out anyone past/present/future (even fictional) that's perfect! I mean, I'd totally shag Batman and he's nearly perfect in my eyes, yet he still has that moody little bitchiness in him that I would prefer my* PERFECT man not to possess. Why not encourage people to be good at multiple things that they are interested in and that itself as a package makes them fuckin' perfect (if I must use the word)? Which brings me to the simple thought that got me typing all this (and will probably have me still typing after its presentation) I RATHER BE GOOD COLLECTIVELY THAN GREAT INDIVIDUALLY  or  I RATHER BE GOOD MULTI-DIMENSIONALLY THAN GREAT SUPERFICIALLY or ... you get the point! There may be people out there in the world who will be better at a specific aspect of life than I am, but as a package deal I can outdo all those narrow minded souls who've spent so much time on one aspect of life and robbed them of everything else that they would've enjoyed.

[*my: which only demonstrates what we all know, so I won't go into it, but will point out that the term itself "perfect" is extremely SUBJECTIVE to the SUBJECT]

I mean these thoughts aren't unnatural or new or going to create a revelation in any one's life, but as long as it serves as a friendly reminder for even one soul, then I suppose I'm happy. Fuck, who am I kidding, I'm happy just as long as I get to write and have a momentary fling with words, so thank you for allowing me to waste your time.

Good day!

Love This Bastard

Someone recently descirbed him as an "honest asshole,"
and my only reply was "just how I like my men."

Speed Limit Enforced With Radar

Society molds every single person alive (and dead) from the moment they are old enough to be aware of their surroundings. Among these molds comes one of the BIGGEST and SILLIEST expectation: we are all expected to find our "other half" in this world, build a life with them and produce offspring to torture into following our footsteps (that were not in fact our genuine wants, rather enforced ones).

Now, don't get me wrong ... I'm among one of those gals who genuinely wants offspring and believes in being pathetically romantic (in my own terms), but granted I'm not even sure how much of this is me and how much of it is society. I do acknowledge my hypocritical wants, but with the same token I can identify that I would be in a much calmer, safer, happier state of mind if the EXPECTATIONS and PRESSURES were non-existent. It's such a cruel joke to place people on this earth and place them on this assignment that for most is NEARLY IMPOSSIBLE (unless you settle).

What if we envisioned a life where one does everything and anything their heart desires and that is the first and foremost expectation from society and if you  happen to be lucky enough to find someone who enjoys the journey with you, then you take them in as they would take you in (given the feelings are reciprocated) and once that fades/changes you are expected to move on to the next person who now fits the new you and so on and so forth until you've soaked in as much life as you could possibly absorb.

Now, since that isn't quite the norms of our current society, I challenge it to answer a question for me, one that will allow me to successfully complete the assignment it has forced upon me since birth ... HOW/WHEN DO YOU KNOW IT'S REAL LOVE? -- where are the rules, the guidelines, the signs? If I am expected to flourish in this department and meet the requirements of a 'good mule' then I expect some great guidance. Does anyone really know when it's "right?" Do society endorsed fireworks go off? Do you feel comfortable? Or is feeling comfortable a sign that there are no fireworks? Is doubt and hesitation a sign? Is it a sign that it's not right or a sign that you aren't ready? C'mon now, do share the secrets. Unless society wants to admit the most taboo thought ever, IT'S NEVER RIGHT, YOU JUST LEARN TO SETTLE.

Oh how my married friends are going to hate me for this one ....

Childhood Intelligence

When I was a little kid, I use to play a game with myself. Every time I came across tiles, marbles, coins, I would begin counting from 5 to 1. I always imagined that once I reached five ... some type of catastrophe would occur. An earthquake would split the ground underneath me open or a planet would come crashing down into Earth. When I reached 1 and nothing happened, I was relieved and somewhat disappointed.

If I counted you down, we would've locked eyes at 5. Experienced our first enticing conversation at 4. Locked lips and shared intimacy at 3. Grew tired of each other at 2 and decided to go our separate ways at 1.

Past_PRESENT_Future

When will I be blessed with a simple soul that lives in the present? When, oh when!
